Purple Day is a podcast from Storytime in the Schoolhouse. Our Purple Day podcasts are the audio from Storytime’s Monday episodes. Purple Day is a podcast program for preschoolers and young children and includes a weekly rhythm of nature-based songs and stories. Purple Day will teach you and your child seasonal songs and stories as well as mindful breathing exercises to share with your young child or preschooler.
In this week's episode of Purple Day, we will sing songs about gnomes beneath the earth and then hear a story about a child who befriends some gnomes. This Storytime episode will teach you and your child seasonal songs, poems, and fingerplays as well as a nature-based story. Enjoy Storytime with your child and deepen your connection to each other and the world around you.

This Week on Purple Day
Every Purple Day, or Monday, we are inside the schoolhouse for circle time and storytime.
During circle time we learn seasonal songs and poems together. We also practice a deep breathing exercise at the end of circle time on Mondays. This week we learn the final verses to our songs and poems for this month’s circle time.
After circle time, we hear a story together. Today we hear the story of a little girl who sees a group of gnomes going inside the side of a mountain near her home. She watches them for several days before following them inside to see what they are doing.

Purple Day is a podcast from Storytime in the Schoolhouse. Our Purple Day podcast episodes are the audio from our Monday videos. Storytime Members have access to five videos each week along with corresponding activities and curriculum. Every Yellow Day, or Wednesday, we are outside for Storytime and we go on a field trip to see someone in the community or visit a new place. This week in the Schoolhouse, members go on a field trip to Luray Caverns in Virginia and get to explore the inside of a cave. Just like the child in the story!
Storytime members also go on a craft visit to see our handwork teacher and learn how to make a beautiful, winter forest batik. These wall hangings can be adapted for any season and add beauty to a home.
