Spring Circle Time Highlights
A spring-themed circle time with songs, poems, and fingerplays about windy weather, falling rain, and blooming seeds.
I love using Wilma Ellersiek’s resources in my classroom! This month’s fingerplay comes from her book Gesture Games for Spring and Summer.
Here are the first two verses of “Rain Song.”
Rain Song, by Wilma Ellersiek*
Drip-a, dip-a, dip-a, dip-a, drip-a, dip-a, dip-a, dip!
Drip-a, dip-a, dip-a, dip-a, drip-a, dip-a, dip-a, dip!
Dripping dripping raindrops dripping on my head,
Plops! And I’m getting wet
Drip-a, drip-a dip! Splishy splashy wet!
Drip, drip, drip;
Drip, drip, drip!
*from Gesture Games for Spring and Summer, which (along with Gestures Games for Autumn and Winter) I can't recommend enough!
About the Story: The Boy Who Went to the North Wind
A gentle adaptation of the traditional folk tale, “The Boy Who Went to the North Wind.” A young boy needs money to purchase food for his family, and goes to the North Wind for help. The North Wind gives him a magic tablecloth. If he says the magic words when he lays it on the table, it will prepare a feast!
