Winter Circle Time Highlights

A winter-themed Waldorf circle time with songs, poems, and fingerplays about snow, animals, and cold weather.

Winter’s Cold
Winter’s cold, there’s snow in the sky
The squirrels gather nuts
And the wild geese fly.

The fuzzy red fox has his fur to keep warm
And the bear’s in the cave, sleeping all through the storm.

Winter’s coming! Winter’s coming! How will the creatures get ready?
Winter’s coming! Winter’s coming! Time to get ready for snow!

Winter’s cold, there’s snow in the sky
The squirrels gather nuts. And the wild geese fly.

The fuzzy red fox has his fur to keep warm
And the bear’s in the cave, sleeping all through the storm.

About the Story

A classic Russian folktale about a community that comes together to cook a large pot of stone soup--enough for everyone to share!

In Ms. Becca’s version of the folktale Stone Soup, a young girl is lost in the woods and comes upon a village where she hopes to find a place to sleep and dinner to eat. When she is told there isn’t any food to share, she pulls a “magic soup stone” out of her pocket.
The stone lives up to its name, and soon, the soup pot is full of delicious vegetables–enough to feed the whole village.
