Listen to the Episode
Listen to the Purple Day episode in the audio player above, or directly from the Purple Day Podcast, where you can download the episode and find the RSS feed.
Purple Day is a Podcast from Storytime in the Schoolhouse. Each episode is the audio from a Monday Storytime episode.
In this week's episode of Purple Day, we will sing songs about kittens, Jack Frost, and snow. Then, we will hear the story of Stone Soup. This Storytime episode will teach you and your child seasonal songs, poems, fingerplays, and a nature-based story. Enjoy Storytime with your child and deepen your connection to each other and the world around you.
Please note: Storytime is created for the screen, and some elements will transfer to audio-only better than others.
About the Story
Ms. Becca tells us her version of a classic Russian folktale about a community that comes together to cook a large pot of stone soup--enough for everyone to share!
A young girl found herself lost, hungry, and tired while traveling. She stopped in a village, asking for a place to stay and some food to eat. An old man offered her a warm bed by the fire, but said he had no food to share.
“That’s okay, she said, “I have a magic stone that makes the most delicious soup.”
