I messed up.

I messed up.

I bought into what a few marketing experts told me and added “scarcity and urgency” to Storytime by limiting the enrollment window to four days twice a year.

People told me this sold this to me as:

“No one will ever buy it if it's just on your website. They'll keep putting it off. Adding a limited enrollment window enables you to help more families.”

That’s what I want to do: support families. I thought I was making a decision that would help more families while growing Storytime enough to support my own family. But this marketing model doesn’t sit right with me. High-pressure marketing doesn't align with who I am or the families I serve.

While it made sense to limit enrollment windows so I could welcome and orient groups of parents together, Storytime requires little orientation, and we provide our members with all they need to get started. This isn’t reason enough for me to keep this model.

One of Little Round Schoolhouse’s values is accessibility. Offering 4-day, high-pressure enrollment windows isn't adding accessibility, but limiting it. (Note: When we offer group coaching, we will obviously need to limit our enrollment window and size based on the nature of group coaching.)

Then there is the matter of my own well-being.

As I approach our second official launch, my nervous system remembers the last launch. It put a lot of pressure on me and my family and had negative effects on my mind and body. I don't want to follow a business model that doesn’t feel good!

One of the great things about owning my own business is making decisions that work for me, my family, and my audience. Moving away from a “launch” model with a limited enrollment window might not make me the most money or gain me the most support in the online business world, but it works for my family and my business.

So, we are making the change and pivoting at the last minute.

Here are all the juicy details:

  • The Rhythm Workshop is moving to September, when we will have a two-week “live” workshop for anyone who wants to join. If you’re on the waitlist, you’ll receive updates as we get closer to the date. This will allow me to focus on the workshop and show up in the group for live Q&As.
  • Storytime is now open for enrollment year-round. You don’t have to wait six months to start creating a rhythm of songs, stories, and projects. Yay!
  • I have reinstated sliding scale pricing to increase financial equity and accessibility. (Available from the website via an honor system. No applications.)

Our system is ready for new members.
