Early Spring Circle Time Highlights

An early-spring themed circle time with songs, poems, and fingerplays. Here’s one of our favorite songs from our spring circle time.

The Prettiest Little Tree
One day I saw, I saw a tree.
The prettiest little tree that you ever did see
*And the tree was in a hole and the hole was in the ground.
And the green grass grew all around, all around
And the green grass grew all around.

And on that tree, there was a branch
The prettiest little branch that you ever did see.
And the branch was on the tree
*repeat

And on that branch there was a twig
The prettiest little twig that you ever did see
And the twig was on the branch
And the branch was on the tree
*Repeat

And on that twig, there was a nest
The prettiest little nest that you ever did see
And the nest was on the twig
And the twig was on the branch
And the branch was on the tree
*Repeat

And in that nest, there was an egg
The prettiest little egg that you ever did see
And the egg was in the nest
And the nest was on the twig
And the twig was on the branch
And the branch was on the tree
*Repeat

About the Story: Cranky Chicken

There was a young chicken who used her sharp beak to peck, peck, peck at things around her; sometimes even her friends!

“I’m a cranky chicken and I want you to see
My strong beak is the best part of me.”

The other farm animals didn’t like playing with the Cranky Chicken when she used her beak to peck them.

“Use your beak in helpful ways, not hurtful ways.”

One day the cow got a bur stuck on her back and needed help. While the other farm animals didn’t know what to do, Cranky Chicken’s knew her beak was the perfect tool for the job. She used her beak to gently remove the burr from the cow’s back, which made the cow very happy!
After that, the chicken knew how to use her beak in helpful ways instead of hurtful ones.

“I’m no longer a cranky chicken, and I’m here to say
I use my beak in helpful ways.”
